Military Resources and Links
Below are web-sites that provide information on Veterans benefits and how to
file/ask for them (Plus more). Accordingly, there are many sites that
explain
how to obtain books, military/medical records, information and how to appeal
a denied claim with the VA. Please pass this information on to every Veteran you know.
Nearly 100% of this information is free and available for all veterans, the only catch is:
you have to ask for it, because they won't tell you about a specific benefit unless
you ask for it. You need to know what questions to ask so the right doors open
for you and then be ready to have an advocate who is willing to work with and
for you, stay in the process, and press for your rights and your best interests.

This statue currently stands outside the Iraqi palace, now home to the 4th Infantry Division. It will eventually be shipped home and put in the memorial museum in Fort Hood. The statue was created by an Iraqi artist named Kalat, who for years was forced by Saddam Hussein to make the many hundreds of bronze busts of Saddam that dotted Baghdad. Kalat was so grateful for the American's liberation of his country; he melted three of the heads of the fallen Saddam and made the statue as a memorial to the American Soldiers and their fallen warriors. Kalat worked on this memorial night and day for several months. To the left of the kneeling soldier is a small Iraqi girl giving the soldier comfort as he mourns the loss of his comrade in arms. - Directory of Veterans Service Organizations

- PTSD and Sleep, Amelia, a future social worker, found this particular site helpful while writing a school psychology paper. I added this link to this page of helpful links for veterans and their families battling PTSD in Amelia's honor. Many injuries received in combat and other occupations are not obvious.
- Sleep disorders - hosted by Mattressclarity.com. If you are not able to get a good nights sleep frequently symptons of deeper medical conditions exist. For the veteran as compared to a civilian those underlying problems are more intense and diverse. This is a well written and linked website. A shout out to Tracy Edward for sending me this info and website.
